DIA Samurai Beyond the Sword
The Detroit Institute of Arts held a competition in partnership with the Detroit Garment Group Guild. Together they chose 10 local Detroit designers to create a one of a kind piece for a runway show and exhibition held at the museum.

This piece is my imaginative representation of the goddess of war and embodies the mythological elements of Japanese culture. Her corset is made of forged copper with sterling silver and silk flowers. The corset is supported by hand tooled leather depicting images of cranes, a representation of longevity in Japan.
